Install Minda and sign in

2 min · Minda in 10 minutes

Minda is a personal AI agent app for your computer. It has its own built-in browser, built on Chromium, so it opens the same websites Chrome does, and an AI that can read pages and work in them for you. This lesson gets it installed and signed in.

Pick your system

Open the download page on mindasip.com. It opens on your own system, and you can switch to Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome or phone. Each one lists what it needs and three steps to get going.

  • Windows: Minda Setup (.exe), or a portable .zip. It updates itself silently.
  • macOS: a .dmg. Minda tells you when a new version is out and offers the download. Built-in Tor is not available on a Mac.
  • Linux: .deb, .rpm or .AppImage. The AppImage updates itself; with .deb and .rpm, Minda tells you and offers the new package.
  • Phone: nothing to install from a store. Minda runs in your phone's browser, and the last lesson shows how.

Updates are signed, so a server cannot forge a release, and security updates are never held back behind a plan.

Your first run

The first run is short: Welcome, Bring your stuff, All set. Press Start browsing and you are in. Everything else waits as Set up later: your look, privacy, apps and workspaces, AI assistant, plan and default browser. You will find them on the All set page, in the rail and in Settings → About → Setup, so do them whenever you like.

An account carries your plan, your sync and your phone. It is the same account for Minda, Minda SI for Chrome and the account page. Sign in with Google, Microsoft, GitHub, Apple or your email.

Turn on two-step sign-in in Settings → Account. After your password, Minda asks for a code from an authenticator app, and you get 10 one-time recovery codes in case you lose your phone. There are no SMS codes and no passkeys yet.

What you get on Free

Every function is on every plan, the AI agent included. The plans differ in how much you can use:

  • Free: 100 Minda AI credits a month and 30 free everyday replies a day.
  • Pro: $25 a month, or $240 a year ($20 a month). It brings 2,000 credits and 100 free everyday replies a day, with a 7-day trial and no card needed.

Credits are what Minda's hosted AI models cost. If you plug in your own key (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, OpenRouter or Qwen) or run Ollama on your computer, the chat is unlimited and uses no credits. You set that up in Settings → AI.

Try it now: press Alt+Q to open the AI chat and ask it anything.
