Move in from Chrome, Edge or Firefox
You do not have to start over. Minda brings your browsing life across in one step, and the first run offers it as Bring your stuff. You can also do it later in Settings → Import & export.
What comes over
From Chrome, Edge, Firefox and more, Minda can import:
- Bookmarks
- History, at most the 10,000 most recent pages
- Passwords and sign-ins
- Extensions
- Open tabs
Two honest limits
Some passwords stay behind. Chrome 127 and newer, and current Edge, lock most saved passwords to themselves, and Minda does not read Firefox passwords. The way around it is the CSV route: export your passwords from the old browser as a CSV file, then import that file.
Chrome extensions install from the Chrome Web Store. Open it, press Add to Chrome, then pin and open them from the puzzle button in the toolbar. Support is not full Chrome parity, so test the ones you cannot live without.
Bring your AI too
If you have talked to ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini for a while, they know things about you. Minda can learn them without retyping. Copy the prompt Minda gives you into that AI, paste its answer back into Minda (in Settings → Memory, or in the Bring your stuff step), and tick the facts you want to keep. Minda reads the answer on your computer, and nothing is saved until you tick it.
Your old chats can come too. Import a ChatGPT or Claude export (the conversations.json file or the ZIP), or Gemini's Google Takeout My Activity file in JSON. Each conversation becomes a chat in History, kept on the computer you imported it on and never synced. One import brings up to 2,000 new chats, and attachments are named but not imported.
A sensible order
- Import bookmarks, history and open tabs.
- Import passwords, by CSV if your browser locked them.
- Add the extensions you rely on.
- Bring your AI.
- Keep the old browser installed until you have checked that you have what you need.
One more thing from Chrome: when a site offers Sign in with Google, a card at the top right shows Continue as your account. Nothing is sent until you press it. You can turn those prompts off with the Sign-in prompts from sites switch in Settings → Passwords.
