One account everywhere: sync and memory
Because Minda SI, Minda on your computer and your phone share one account, a lot follows you around. This lesson covers what travels, how it is protected and what stays put.
Chats
Each chat you have in Minda SI is saved in the extension and synced through your account. Open Minda on your computer, or your account page on your phone, and the same chats are there.
Memory
Say "remember that I prefer short answers" and Minda SI keeps it. It is the same memory Minda uses on your computer, saved to your account, so each place learns what the other was told.
You can keep any single memory on this device only. That memory is never sent, and its copy on the server is deleted.
How syncing is protected
Everything is sealed on your device with AES-256-GCM before it leaves. The key is what matters:
- By default, Minda manages the key. Minda's server keeps it wrapped with its own secret, so the server can read what syncs.
- With your own passphrase, set in Minda on your computer and at least 10 characters long, the server cannot read your synced items. That is end-to-end encryption.
If your account has no sync key yet, the first sync in Minda SI creates a Minda-managed one and emails the account owner to say the key was given to Minda SI for Chrome. If you did not expect that email, check your account's devices and security pages.
What never syncs
Open tabs, cookies, API keys, extensions and scheduled tasks never sync.
Minda SI also keeps its own copy in Chrome. Signing out wipes the saved session and the sync keys from Chrome, and signing in with a different account wipes the saved chats and memory too.
Credits and check-in
Your plan and credits belong to the account, not to a device. Minda SI also checks you in on your first signed-in use of the day, like Minda on your computer. The check-in adds credits to the month, and streaks of days in a row add bonuses.
A habit worth keeping
Choose your key before you rely on sync. If you handle sensitive material, set a passphrase in Minda on your computer once, and every surface follows it.
