Open the panel and find your way around

5 min · Minda SI for Chrome and your phone

There are three ways to open Minda SI for Chrome, and they all do the same thing.

  • Press the Minda SI button on Chrome's toolbar.
  • Press the shortcut: Alt+Q on Windows, or Alt+Shift+M on a Mac, Linux or ChromeOS (that is Option+Shift+M on a Mac).
  • Use the slim tool bar on the right edge of the page. Press Expand, or press any tool on it to open the panel at that tool.

Press the button or the shortcut again, or use Collapse, to close it.

Where it opens

On a web page the panel opens at the page's right edge and pushes the page aside, so nothing is covered. That is Push, the default. In the chat's header you can switch to Overlay, which floats the panel over the page instead. While the agent is working on a page, the panel pushes the page whichever mode you picked.

Drag the panel's left edge to make it narrower or wider.

Collapse and Expand

Collapse hides the chat and leaves the slim tool bar at the page's edge, so the tools stay one click away. Expand, or any tool, brings the panel back. If you prefer a clean page, you can turn the tool bar off in Settings.

The tools on the bar

The bar lists Chat, Write, Grammar, Translate, OCR, Create, PDF, Shot, Split, Automate, Settings and your account.

  • Write, Grammar and Translate work on text you select or type.
  • OCR reads the text in a screenshot.
  • Create makes pictures.
  • PDF lets you chat with a PDF.
  • Split works beside your window in split screen.
  • Automate switches your automations on or off.

Chrome's own pages

On Chrome's own pages (the new tab page, chrome:// pages and the Chrome Web Store) the page can't hold a tool bar, so the panel shows its own tools instead. The agent can't read or act on those pages either.

Replies keep going

A reply runs in the extension's background. If you go to another page, collapse the panel or switch tabs, the reply carries on. A notification tells you when the agent needs your OK, or when a reply finishes while you are away from the panel.

Try it now

Open any article, press the shortcut, and ask "What is this page about, in three bullets?" Then press Collapse and notice that the tool bar stays on the edge of the page.
